This Week's Shameless Budgeteer Plug: Brighton Beach, Brenda Weiler, indie rap and TwinPortsNightlife.com

Before heading out to the U.S. Slivovitz Festival tomorrow at Lakeview Castle, make sure to check out all of this week's "special little treasures"....

"Discover Duluth: Brighton Beach" -- Staying within city limits, you can't get much closer to the North Shore than this beach. (Which is a blast to shoot, by the way.)

"Fargo's Brenda Weiler Weaves Stark Masterpiece from Family Tragedy" -- After hearing Brenda explain what she went through during the recording of "End the Rain," I'm curious to hear how she'll handles its 11 songs live at Beaner's next Friday. (p.s. If you missed my review of that album, check it out here.)

"CD Reviews: Indie Rap's Two Schools of Thought" -- Aesop Rock and Grayskul both score with excellent new albums -- and make sure not to miss Grayskul next Friday and Saturday, as they launch their national tour with Atmosphere at our very own Pizza Luce.

"TwinPortsNightlife.com Owners Seek to Expand Business Model" -- Although the site has its fair share of competition (including the Duluth News Tribune's Duluth.com), in just over a year it's already in its second incarnation, and Version 3 is expected to launch next month.
