The Red Hot Chili Peppers are suing Showtime over the name of one of its latest shows, "Californication."As you probably already know, that was the name given to the group's first foray into "suckitude," the 1999 album and single "Californication." (Let's face it; 1995's "One Hot Minute" was the lone decent release in the band's catalog -- but most of that credit should probably be directed at former Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro, who was only a member of RHCP for the one album.)
Even more shameless is RHCP frontman Anthony Kiedis' statement on this whole matter: "'Californication' is the signature CD, video and song of the band's career, and for some TV show to come along and steal our identity is not right."
Cry me a river, sellout!
